Richard Li is a S.M. Student in NECSTlab who started working with Prof. Wardle as a UROP in 2009. He received his S.B. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT in 2010. His research is focused on multifunctional properties characterization and scale-up of carbon nanotube/ carbon fiber hybrid multiscale composites.

Outside of research, Rich is the Co-President of the Graduate Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and enjoys bike touring, performing Chinese Yo-Yo to the Greater Boston Area, and windsurfing.

Itai Stein Itai Stein
Graduate Student
iys "at"

Itai Stein is a Mechanical Engineering S.M. student in Professor Wardle’s NECSTlab. He received his B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011. His research is focused on the fabrication and analysis of physical and transport properties of aligned Carbon Nanotube (CNT) based ceramic matrix nano-composites (A-CMNCs).

Outside the lab, Itai is an amateur bartender, and regularly partakes in outreach to inspire more high school students to pursue a career in science and engineering.

Sunny Wicks Sunny Wicks
Graduate Student
swicks "at"

Sunny Wicks is a PhD student in the NECSTlab and has been working with Prof. Wardle since starting as a UROP in 2005. She received her B.S. in 2007 and her S.M. in 2010 in Aerospace Engineering here at MIT. Her research is centered on mechanical properties of carbon nanotube enhanced fiber reinforced plastics, and includes large-area carbon nanotube growth and composite manufacturing techniques.

In addition to research she is an avid cello player and performs regularly in solo recitals and chamber music concerts through the MIT Chamber Music Society.
